Assist to the Founder President/CEO, in such duties as may be assigned or delegated to implement services designed to meet the needs of Meridian Power Group (MPG).  Regularly required to resolve complex administrative problems independently.  Perform tasks that are diverse and advanced.  May be required to work occasional overtime and weekends.  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the President’s staff, officials, and the general public.  Assisting the President, and his executive staff with timely management of all communication, both written and via telephone, e-mail and voice mail with a variety of constituents; compose letters and statements independently requiring interpretation and application of MPG policies, rules and regulations and monitoring follow up with all distributions that require answers, responses and written replies. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Administrative support duties – Manage complex calendars and arranges meetings/travel; Prepare agendas; Attend meetings and transcribe correspondence from handwritten notes; Maintain extensive office files; Take minutes during meetings; Serve as a resource for the company; Prepare charts and graphs for reports and presentations; Review incoming correspondence and identify items of special interest to the President or others; Maintain various databases and/or spreadsheets.  Type letters, memoranda, and reports from drafts and proofread and review documents for grammatical and numerical errors.
  1. Agenda management – Help plan and coordinate visits of distinguished guests invited by the President and ensure appropriate officials and administrators are notified of visits. Book travel, meetings and arrange hotel accommodations for VIP.
  1. Assist the President – write reports, edit speeches, and prepare executive summaries of lengthy reports.  Orchestrate strategic work strategies to bring the President’s priorities to fruition. Obtain background information on emerging issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Assistant, Secretarial Science or related field preferred. 

 5 +years of work experience in a related field, excellent command of PC skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

3+ years of experience of executive calendar management with proven ability to solve conflicts and communicate changes daily

Experience working in an office environment and supporting a team on project-based work. 

Self-motivated and resourceful, with a proven ability to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines and time pressures.   Strong writing, reading, listening and speaking communication skills.  Ability to type or keyboard 55 accurate words per minute.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Manager guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies, and programs for Meridian Power Group, a small sized company of 1-50 employees.   They will oversee the coordination of employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, compensation, training, succession planning, leadership support, and staffing activities to maximize employee resources. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Recruiting and staffing - Assist the Marketing Director with developing a superior workforce. Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce.  Interviews management and executive position candidates.
  1. Employee relations – Is responsible for the development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention/development, and high performance.  Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are bought forth.  Lead the implementation of company safety and health programs.  Monitors the tracking of OSHA – required data.  Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company.
  1. HR administration – Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments.
  1. Development of the Human Resources department – Leads the development of department goals, objectives and systems.  Provides leadership for Human Resources strategic planning.  Establishes HR departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the MPG strategic goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in HR, Business or Organization Development, from an accredited educational institution.  Master’s degree is strongly preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in HR positions.

Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement and employee development, preferred.

Demonstrate the ability to lead and develop HR department staff members.

Demonstrate the ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team that provides overall company leadership and direction.

Excellent organizational management skills.

Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.  Must include knowledge of Excel and skills in Human Resources Information systems (HRIS).
